Can't go to the big Seattle Flower and Garden Show? Sit down with probably a decade's worth of Garden Design magazines and enjoy design and plant articles.

OFFER: Silver Reed EX44 typewriter - Grandview & 40th - UP

Posted by: "pjizant" pjizant@yahoo.com   pjizant

Sat Feb 7, 2009 2:08 pm (PST)

I listed this last fall but was unable to follow thru on a few
replies due to "life." So, I still have for you a Silver Reed EX44
electric typewriter circa 1983. (ncludes original manual, power cord
and a few print wheels.) Silver Reed began operations as Marukoshi
Knitting Machines Ltd. in Tokyo and in 1978 started sales of Western
electronic typewriters in the US.

This typerwriter uses a type of printwheel to give you the font you
want. Many different printwheels are still available as well as type
ribbon and tackless lift-off tape...it's all online.

It's got a sleek black hard-plastic cover for the keyboard, a cool
triangular-type side profile, a convenient retractable carrying
handle and it's totally portable. It's great for typing envelopes if
you don't have a label printer, or even that occasional form that
could use a typed touch.

I remember purchasing this for $600 + tax back in the early 80's
using my savings. What a high status feeling I had about it then!
This thing has good karma. I typed on this during college and was
Dean's list my last two years. Using this typewriter made me a
better writer. Now I've got academic degrees up the ying-yang.

Very pretty, the chain is off the count wheel, but otherwise it was
working before we moved. I am giving it away because either the cats
or the grandkids will pull it off the wall and I am concerned that
someone will get hurt.
