[TacAreaFC] ADMIN: October topics -- Please take a moment to read!

Dear Freecycle(TM) Members,

This autumn our thriving group has 6220 members and climbing!

We have an assortment of topics to share with you, please read each short bit.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I want to take a moment to remind members to try to post to their home group first.
Fort Lewis members should post to Lakewood Area Freecycle first.
This keeps things local and those who need base access are all on the same list.
Perhaps you could post another warning about checking the spam folder, and adding people you reply to on your contact list. If you don't, the answers to your replies may be sent to spam and you don't get them if you don't check the spam folder. But this week I have had several who have written to tell me the item was mine and when I reply as to when and where, I never hear from them again.
"very helpful to have cross-streets listed with the location. It helps to know where someone lives."
I like how you wrote the ADMIN: The Return to School Challenge #2. I hope it yields a lot of supplies for kids who need 'em. I know that my kids (and I) generated a lot of slightly used office supplies, and the folks who put on those school supplies drives in the summer only want new items. I had not thought of Freecycle for finding families who would use the used materials. Thanks.
A few more members wrote in inquiring about posting multiple items. If you have multiple items to offer, you can post them in separate messages. However, please consider putting similar items into one message and numbering your items for clarity.
WANTEDS
Freecycle is NOT a gigantic free department store. Please limit the number of wanteds to 3 per 7 days as stated in the guidelines and keep them reasonable. We're not here to furnish your apartment or house. Freecycle is not a charity, nor is it a place to ask for help. Keep the long stories out of the Wanteds.
It is OK to say you need a thingamabobie.
It is NOT OK to say that hubby lost his job, the dog died and your four kids need a purple grey thingamabobie for school.
Just ask, no story needed.
LIMITING THE NUMBER OF WANTED POSTS
We are planning to do an overhaul on the number of Wanted posts members will be able to post in the near future.
We would like to hear any suggestions that you may have in how to change the guidelines on Wanted posts. We will be creating a poll and asking our members to vote.
BORROWING and the TACOMA AREA FREECYCLE CAFÉ
Reminder: Borrowing is not allowed on Tacoma Area Freecycle, but it is allowed on our community group TAFC-- Tacoma Area Freecycle Café. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TacomaAreaFreecycle_Cafe/
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

SUBJECT FORMAT 1-2-3
The 1-2-3 of the subject line:

1. Begin each subject with Offer, Taken, Wanted, or Received
2. Include your item (a one or two word phrase works best)
3. End each subject with your home location in parenthesis
Make sure to use EITHER your city OR crossroads!

Thanks everyone for being such a great group!
