We have tried to keep our guidelines consistent but when it came to non-reusable items, we were not accomplishing our task. We are hoping that this change will make it easier for members to remember what can be posted to this group vs the Cafe.
In accordance to the basic Mission of Freecycle, we have made a change to the guidelines; which has been long overdue and is to take effect immediately. Please see the following Guidelines in our 'Files' section that have been revised due to this change:

The change in guidelines are as follows:
- Things Which Can ONLY Be Posted in Our Cafe -
The file named "Posting Rules", rule #4, list the following things which can ONLY be posted in our Cafe:
A.) Tickets, passes, coupons, newspapers, magazines, and similar items such as paper products (ask if you're in doubt);
B.) People Food. OFFERs for food are ok to post. Please do not post an Offer for food that you would otherwise throw away. Absolutely no WANTED posts for food (whether for human or animal consumption) other than to harvest/pick apples, berries, pumpkins, etc.;
C.) Pets, pet food, and pet litter. Please be responsible when rehoming your pet, plan to visit the perspective home to make sure he/she will end up in a forever, loving home. Absolutely no WANTED posts for pets or pet food;
D.) Plants (includes POTTED plants), plant starts, sod, flowers, seeds, soil and/or fertilizer, etc.;
E.) Household Products. OFFERs for cleaning supplies, auto supplies (fluids only), paint, and similar items;
F.) Wood. This includes firewood, plywood, fruitwood, and similar items (ask if you're in doubt);
G.) Off-topic posts or replies to ADMIN messages - our main group, Tacoma Area Freecycle, is not a CHAT group!
H.) Posts advertising after garage sale giveaways, plant freebies, or anything that is not a straight-forward OFFER or WANTED post that would be allowed in the main group.
Any such posts will be deleted from the group messages, and *repeat* offenders who post such things will be removed from the group.
The primary purpose of this Freecycle group is to keep 'reusable' stuff out of our landfills. We personally interpret this to mean "non-biodegradable" things (or items with "non-biodegradable" components) that are substantially bigger than tickets, coupons, and such. We acknowledge that we are using the word "non-biodegradable" rather loosely, so if you have a question as to which group you should post an item, please ask.
If you are not a member of the Tacoma Area Freecycle Cafe, by all means you are more than welcome to join! Just go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TacomaAreaFreecycle_Cafe and click the join button. Your membership will be approved shortly.

We encourage our members to use our 'Fair Offer Policy' which is not mandatory, but is preferred:
Fair Offer Policy:
'I agree to take a period of time (perhaps 24 hours) to see what
responses I get before choosing a recipient for my item(s).
This gives members on Daily Digest, or those who don't have
continual access to the internet a fair chance to reply.'
