Offer: Queen-sized mattress and damaged box (96th and S. Tacoma Way)

This Queen-sized mattress and box are an inexpensive set purchased in 1987. It has a couple of small stains on the mattress, but actually still looks almost new. The box did not fit through the door at one house we lived in, so we disassembled it and then hammered the pieces back together. As a result, the box is not in very good shape, is noisy when you move on the bed, and may need you to add a few nails inside the box to make it solid. Or you could use the mattress and get rid of the old box, if that works better for you.
I'm sure someone would still find this useful--if they are on a tight budget for their first apartment, etc.
As with all FreeCycling, we want to be sure this mattress ends up in a home where it will be FreeCycled again, instead of tossed in a landfill when you get a new one later. :)

Offer: Large Sofa-Bed (96th and S. Tacoma Way)

This is a great 1970s velour couch with sofa-bed. It has dark wooden decorative trim along the upper back edge, and is actually kind of pretty. It is a somewhat taller couch--the back is higher than your head while sitting down on it. It has an orange and brown flower motif (large flowers), on what was probably a creamy white background--now silvery grey. It has a queen-sized mattress inside, but honestly, it is not at all comfortable to sleep on--maybe it could convince your unwanted overnight guests to go home sooner! It is nice and firm all along it when closed--not really saggy in the middle when it's being a couch.
It is from a non-smoking home, but we had CATS and DOGS who loved to sleep on it, so if you are allergic to pets, this would not be a good couch for you. The upholstery was grey/dingy even when we first got it, but in otherwise pretty good shape--it isn't shredded at all, unlike most furniture from homes with pets. This may be good for a teens' couch in your den or basement room, or if you are looking for an older-style decor.
As with all FreeCycling, we want to be sure this couch ends up in a home where it will be FreeCycled again, instead of tossed in a landfill when you get a new one later. :)

Offer: Weight Machine (96th and S. Tacoma Way)
Posted by: "minispam@mac.com" minispam@mac.com frances1358
Mon Aug 17, 2009 8:26 pm (PDT)
This weight machine is a 1980s DP Ultra Gympac Wall/Bench unit, with original Assembly/Installation instructions. It is an older style of weight machine with little rectangular bricks at the back, with holes to put a pin into, to determine what weight you want to lift. This was a really fancy set when it was new in the 1970s or 1980s--it still looks almost new, though it needs to be wiped down from storage, and the weight labels are not all there anymore.
I THINK the bricks are filled with sand. It has a bench, bench press bar, and those padded knee things for leg work at the end of the bench. It has shiny, bright red vinyl padding, and black foam cushioning on the attachments. It has several bench pieces, bench press bar, a lat bar, and a bunch of other pieces.
To the best of my knowledge, this set is complete, except for the heavy-duty screws needed to bolt the unit to a stud in your wall for stability--you can probably get the right kind at Home Depot. VERY IMPORTANT: If you cannot bolt things to your wall, please do not ask for this machine, since it MUST BE BOLTED TO A WALL, otherwise could result in INJURY or DEATH for you or your children/pets, etc.
You will need to bring a big vehicle, like a pickup truck or van, capable of carrying something large that is all in one piece, plus friends to help lift--this thing is HEAVY.
We've been hoping to find the set a good home for a few years, where it could be safely enjoyed by people who would FreeCycle it again when they no longer need it.
Are you the dream home this weight set has been waiting for? :)

Offer: Betta Fish Food (96th and S. Tacoma Way)
Posted by: "minispam@mac.com" minispam@mac.com frances1358
Mon Aug 17, 2009 8:51 pm (PDT)
TWO opened, but clean and dry, containers of "Top Fin Color Enhancing Betta Bits" (very few pellets used)
One is a card -- .14 oz
The other is a plastic bottle --1 oz
Our betta hates this food, so I hope your Betta can be pleasantly surprised with more of his or her favorite. :)
If more than one person replies, I might give one to each of two people, since bettas eat only a few pellets each day, and it might take so long to use up this food that it could lose quality and freshness.
