Hello Members!
Earlier today, I sent out an ADMIN about the beta test from Yahoo! Groups. Apparently we are one of the groups that have been selected to do the beta testings since I just received one of the update emails.
Hence, I am sending another ADMIN out to show you how to change your settings if you no longer wish to receive them.
Remember, if you like receiving them, do nothing. There are a lot of steps but if you value your privacy and want to stop the pesky emails from Yahoo groups from showing up in your email, it may be worth your time to do this.
If you do not have Yahoo email, all you have to do is scroll to the bottom of the Update Email that you receive and click on 'Unsubscribe to the Updates Email' and they will stop. You MUST do this even if you follow the steps below if you have Yahoo email too!
If you have any questions, please let us know and we will try to clarify the instructions. Remember, this is NOT the Moderators from the Freecycle groups doing this... it is the Yahoo Groups system itself.

HOW TO CHANGE YOUR UPDATE SETTINGS:
Remember to scroll to the bottom of the Update Email that you receive and click on 'Unsubscribe to the Updates Email' and they will stop too.
1) Sign into your Yahoo email account.
2) On the upper right hand side of the page click on OPTIONS then MAIL OPTIONS.
3) Under the GENERAL tab, you will see 'Social features' and a box to 'enable updates'. If you no longer wish to receive the updates, uncheck the box.
4) Click 'Save Changes' on the top.
5) Underneath the box you unchecked, you will see a link that says 'Manage who sees my Updates'. Click that.
Here you will see all of the Yahoo Groups that you are sharing your information with.
6) Under 'Settings for Sharing', make sure ALL of them say 'NO ONE'. This can be easily done by clicking on the first one, then pressing TAB and N until you get to the bottom of the list.
7) Click SAVE.
8) Uncheck the box 'Share my Updates' on the top.
9) Click OK to the next box that pops up confirming your action.
10) Now scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and click the link 'Show All Yahoo Sources'. It will bring up another list that you will need to change.
11) Repeat the same thing you did as in number 6 above, changing all of them to say 'NO ONE'.
12) Click SAVE.
Now you are no longer sharing any of your internet activity with anyone else and will no longer receive the annoying emails from Yahoo Groups.
